Are you interested in implementing public-private-people partnerships in your city?  Baltic Urban Lab has published a new working paper "Paper Public–Private–People Partnerships in Urban Planning" prepared by Nordregio that discusses the potentials and challenges public-private-people partnerships can bring in urban planning and development with a particular attention paid to public-private-people partnership (4P) approaches in regards to brownfield regeneration – the focus of Baltic Urban Lab. The Working Paper also gives practical examples of how cities can succesfully involve various actors in their planning processes.

The project conducted its first project meeting in Stockholm from September 7 to 9. During the three days, the project partners were hosted by Nordregio at its beatiful premises on the island of Skeppsholmen. The event included updates on the project’s progress and next steps, practical guidance for project implementation, action plans presented by the city pilots, a study visit to the Royal Seaport and a visiting speaker from Forum Virium Helsinki.

The City of Turku organized an Open Call event on June 16, 2016 to mark the beginning of the planning process for the city’s campus area and Science Park in Kupittaa. The event gathered key stakeholders from the area to discuss and brainstorm what the future of the campus area and science park could look like. Baltic Urban Lab’s pilot site in Itäharju is closely connected to the planning process and project partners from UBC, University of Turku and the City of Turku took part in the event.

Turning an old harbour into an attractive part of the city centre is tricky. To find out more about the public’s needs, wishes, fears, hopes and dreams Norrköping decided to invite the public to a series of focus groups' meetings.

Norrköping is conducting an extensive transformation of the old Inner harbour. The area will become a natural part of Norrköping’s city centre with, parks, canals, quays, shops, restaurants and 2 000 new homes. The municipality’s aim is to create a living room for all – for residents as well as visitors.
