Join the 3rd Baltic Urban Lab webinar!

The third webinar's keynote speaker will be Elke Myrhede and her presentation will be about soil contamination in brownfield sites. The headline goes as "Soil contamination in brownfields  - how does it concern planning?" This webinar will offer you an opportunity to learn more about why contamination of soil and groundwater is an issue of concern in planning. The following three main objectives in planning will be covered during the webinar:

  • Safety and health
  • Environment and spreading of contamination to surrounding areas
  • Time and economy.

You will also get to know how the City of Norrköping is dealing with the issue in the Inner Harbour of Norrköping. The Inner Harbour is located right next to the city centre on the other side of the river at the waterfront. The overall aim is to turn the Inner Harbour into attractive residential area with more than 2000 new apartments built. The Inner Harbour area is a highly contaminated former industrial site.

Elke Myrhede is a specialist on soil contamination and works at the cityplanning department of Norrköping since 2015. She has been working as a consultant for over 20 years mainly with surveying and remediating soil contamination in a lot of different places such as Öster Mälarstrand in Västerås where a large facility of Vattenfall situated on the shoreline of Mälaren is transformed to a residential area.
